As part of the Ecominds Grant that we’ve been awarded to create an art-based Sensory Garden, there are new roles available:

Support Worker: We are looking for someone with some training or experience in Health and Social Care. You will work directly with Syrian House residents on a one-to-one basis, supported by the staff and other volunteers, to identify their needs and to design suitable gardening and art activities to help them develop their living skills. When the project reaches an end, you will be a key player in the evaluation of its outcomes and of service users’ recovery. This is a voluntary position and reasonable expenses will be covered.

Art & Crafts Teacher: We are looking for a creative person with some training or experience in teaching arts and crafts, particularly to vulnerable adults or people with learning difficulties. You will be in charge of designing, organising and leading the art workshops at Syrian House. With the help of the care home staff and other volunteers, you will design the art activities according to service users’ needs. You will lead different workshops in drawing, painting, writing, poetry, crafts and any other that will result in the creation of pieces of eco-art to include in the garden. There’s a fixed fee that we will pay to the artist for each workshop depending on the abilities, experience and knowledge.

If you are interested, write to Carolina Scarinci at naturalrecoveryuk@gmail.com for the full role description and application form.
