Gardening Volunteers

Whether you have gardening experience or just a great interest and energy in nature join us in our weekly gardening session. We always have a cup of tea before getting started with watering, weeding, digging and planting alongside Syrian House residents.

We are currently in the design phase of the Sensory Garden and will launch the gardening sessions after Christmas. If you have experience in garden design or knowledge of Sensory Gardens that you want to share with us, please contact us.

Gardening sessions will take place at Syrian House.

Art Volunteers

This role is ideal if you want to get valuable experience in teaching arts and art therapies. Our Art and Crafts Teacher will hold art sessions every Friday from 10am to 12noon starting on the 17th December. The main duties of the art volunteers is to assist in the running of these workshops, engage residents into the activities, help them perform the tasks, ensure health and safety requirements are fulfilled and support the documentation of the art sessions.

No previous experience is required. You only need to be positive and patient. Contact us if you want to participate in any art session.

Art sessions will take place at Syrian House.

Support Volunteers

If you are interested in Mental Health or Social Care, you can help us support service users in one-to-one basis so they can successfully participate in both gardening and art sessions. Activities will include helping them complete their tasks, understanding their needs and capacities, engaging and spending time with them, promoting social inclusion and independent living.

For the moment, we are in the design phase of the Sensory Garden and we are not meeting for gardening activities, which should begin after Christmas. Art sessions will be held every Friday from 10am to 12noon starting on the 17th December.

Art and Gardening sessions will take place at Syrian House.
